Louisville, KY – Shannon Turner, current Commissioner for Medicaid Services in the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services, will join University Health Care as Associate Executive Vice-President.

University Health Care is a licensed HMO that operates Passport Health Plan, the Region 3 Medicaid Managed Care Plan. Turner will serve as the company’s liaison with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She will also serve as the University Health Care representative on the Kentucky Association of Health Plans Board, a position she previously held during her employment with Bluegrass Family Health.
In addition, Turner is in line to succeed current University Health Care Executive Vice-President Robert Slaton when he retires.

Prior to joining the Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Turner was employed by Bluegrass Family Health in Lexington as Director of Governmental Affairs. In that role she administered the regulatory compliance, legislative affairs and appeals functions of the managed care plan.
