| Louisville, KY -
Passport Health Plan, the sole source Medicaid health plan for Jefferson
and 15 surrounding counties in Kentucky, is pleased to announce a new
tool that makes it easier for health care providers to access Passport
Health Plan’s Formulary.
Providers will have access to Passport Health Plan’s formulary,
or list of covered drugs, through ePocrates handheld drug reference
guide designed for the Palm OS and Pocket PC platforms and through
ePocrates RX OnlineTM available for Internet-connected desktop computers.
All eProcrates products are easily down loadable via the Internet
and are currently used by more than 140,626 U. S. physicians, including
more than 3,700 in Kentucky. With ePocrates drug database, providers
can check formulary status, prior authorization requirements, formulary
alternatives, generic substitutes and quantity limits. The software
also features a drug reference that includes information such as
indication, dosing, contraindications, drug interactions, adverse
reactions, and cost information.
“We believe by offering this service, physicians will be better
equipped to meet patients’ needs while reducing down-time caused
by paperwork back logs,” said Larry N. Cook, MD, Passport Health
Plan Chairman of the Board. “Physicians can access ePocrates
at the point of care. They can immediately see the latest list of
preferred drugs, scan the different drug options, and check for possible
drug reactions.”
