PartnershipUniversity Health Care, Inc.In 1997, in response to a state Request for Proposal, a group of historic Medicaid providers established University Health Care, Inc. (UHC) d/b/a Passport Health Plan. The University of Louisville Medical School Practice Association, University of Louisville Medical Center, Jewish and St. Mary's Healthcare, Norton Healthcare Inc., and The Louisville/Jefferson County Primary Care Association (which includes the Federally Qualified Health Centers and The Louisville Metro Department of Health and Wellness) established University Health Care, Inc. A broad provider network was established and the Partnership Council was formed. This initiative was undertaken because of a long history of service and dedication to the Medicaid population, a commitment to providing superior health care, and the belief that this could best be accomplished by a provider-sponsored organization. UHC exists today as one of few successful models of provider-run Medicaid managed care and serves more than 170,000 members in 16 counties. The Partnership CouncilThe Partnership Council is a broad coalition of consumers and providers, including physicians, nurses, hospitals, health departments and ancillary providers. The Partnership Council is led by a 30 member Board of Directors representing the full spectrum of providers and including four Medicaid consumer representatives. The Board of Directors help govern the operations of the Region 3 Medicaid Managed Care program. |
